PETE Wicks has described his guilt after the horrific moment a pig died in his arms while he was filming Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls.
The TOWIE star and animal lover, 29, has broken his silence after the show was slammed by animal charities for the accidental death.
Pete insisted his fellow campmates shouldn’t kill the animal for food and the pig was tied to a tree after it started causing havoc in the camp – but it died after it throttled itself to death during a struggle.
He said: « He basically died in my arms. It was just horrific to be perfectly honest with you.
« It was just awful. It sent me on a bit of a wobble. »
He added: « People will probably be like, « What’s wrong with that guy? », but it really, really affected me quite badly because I had a bit of an attachment to him.
« I felt guilty. I just felt awful. I was so proud of the fact that we were going to be the first group that didn’t kill an animal.
« I just felt it was a big let down for all of us. What happened to Colin was something that nobody wanted. He was like a member of the camp. »
The shocking moment will be shown this Sunday as part of the series, which is filmed off the coast of Panama.
The TV personality added: « No one wanted the pig to die. No one wanted to kill the pig and everyone had a soft spot for the pig.
« Then this complete unfortunate accident happened that no one could have foreseen and no one wanted.
« It really put a dark cloud over the camp to be perfectly honest with you. It really, really upset me. »
